Tranquility Academy was set up to provide an alternative teaching and learning theology and environment by Amanda Duncan (C.I.D.E.S.C.O., C.I.B.T.A.C., City & Guilds and NVQ 2 & 3) and Samantha Flute (I.H.B.C., I.I.H.H.T., I.T.E.C., I.I.S.T.) as a result of a growing need for this type of training facility. Amanda is a qualified Beauty Therapist; and Samantha a qualified Sports and Complementary Therapist, with 20 years of combined experience of working within the industry and teaching at further education colleges. Samantha is currently expanding her own successful private practice and private teaching; so Amanda explains;
“Having both had experience of working in salons, as mobile therapists, setting up in self-employment and running our own businesses, we both felt stifled and bogged down by red-tape and felt a real lack of student emphasis and importance during our time teaching at large, budget-driven colleges. The classes were too over-sized, and much more focused on attendance and retaining students to give full emotional and practical support to the learners. The constant, and largely unnecessary, bureaucracy which the college environment and course content is bound by, gives little scope for the individual experience of the tutor to be utilized to aid the learner; we want to change this. We want to send out professional, confidant, competent and knowledgeable therapists into Industry, but with their own style and the added, invaluable knowledge that we’ve gained over the years in their repertoire! We both felt that we wanted to break the uniformity of further education, as it seemed to produce uniform therapists. We aim to produce originals!"
Tranquility Academy is set in the seaside town of Lowestoft in Suffolk, and is a teaching and training facility which aims to offer a different, much more personalized learning experience; with you, the learner as our focus. We are committed to sharing our knowledge and experience with you whilst equipping you with the vital information, practise and training that you need to be a successful therapist or improve upon your skills. We specialise in providing intensive, fast track, modular Nail, Beauty and Complementary therapy courses and workshops, and insist upon a maximum class size of 6 to optimise individual tutorage and your overall success. Our training courses cover a wide range of Beauty and Complementary therapy treatments at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, and all courses are fully recognised by leading Industry Insurance companies, including BABTAC and The GUILD. Your certification, upon successful completion of a diploma course, will enable you to gain insurance and legally work on the paying public. Tranquility Academy prides itself on continual support, assessment, feedback and backup during and following courses; providing you with a manual containing all the information covering your course, and your tutor’s phone number for any advice or queries, be it six weeks or two years after your course.

Our Academy
Tranquility Academy is based at the Advanti Injury Clinic and Training Centre, and is located at 42 Pinbush Road, South Lowestoft Industrial Estate, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR33 7NL. Please let us know if you need directions.
Our teaching room is fully equipped to deliver our courses, is light, airy, warm, and is set as a salon environment to fully facilitate practical work and assessments. The idea of our Academy is to develop a venture offering high quality, low cost courses and workshops for qualified or recently graduated therapists and those of you who have an interest in therapies and wish to learn more. This is something that is very difficult to find anywhere in the East Anglia area! We aim to make learning in the beauty and holistic field as accessible as possible.
